Join the A2I2 Cohort

Each year, NCII invites 10 to 15 colleges to join its Attitude, Agency, and Intensive Implementation (A2I2) Cohort.

Over two years, A2I2 Cohort participants engage in deep-dive work on implementing guided pathways and student financial stability reforms, all with the goal of helping more students attain their academic and life goals.

The A2I2 Cohort is not a train-the-trainers model. NCII conducts intensive on-site work with leadership, faculty, and staff. Services and support throughout the two years include six site visits as well as ongoing support between the visits.

The A2I2 Cohort helps colleges build on their existing efforts and make institutional change at scale so all students have a genuine opportunity to succeed. A2I2 colleges also form a learning community that helps member colleges reshape their institutions to improve their completion rates.

“Rob Johnstone and NCII have provided guidance, support, and direction in our quest to transform our students’ experiences. Rob’s depth of knowledge and national experience have given our community the necessary confidence and enthusiasm to move this work forward.”

— Gary Oertli, President, South Seattle College (WA)

A2I2 focuses on:

Attitude

Before the work begins, colleges must believe they have the power to move the needle. Organizational change in higher education is difficult, and it can be messy. NCII knows how to manage this process and gives colleges essential support while helping to catalyze change.

Agency

Colleges have to overcome many barriers to improve completion rates. NCII shows institutions that the key levers of change are in their control — and shows them how to use those levers effectively.

Intensive Implementation

The A2I2 Cohort model is challenging. NCII provides significant assistance and tools, but colleges need a strong desire to move forward. They must commit to two years of doing the hard work to transform college policies, structures, and approaches to have the desired effect for their students.

The A2I2 Cohort is open to any regionally accredited community college. The cost of participating in the cohort is $70,000 per year for two years ($140,000 total). For colleges interested in securing grants to participate in A2I2, NCII can provide a support letter and/or content for grant applications.
